The Friends of St John’s Church, Cardiff was established in 1993 with the objective of providing support for the upkeep of the fine mediaeval building that has been a central feature of faith in Cardiff for over eight centuries. It provides a connection to the church not only for its own community but also for people who are not part of its regular life, but who want to have an interest or association with the building and its people. It is a registered charity in its own right and independent in constitution from the church. It is not necessary to be an active churchgoer or to hold a particular faith to be a member.

“The Friends” currently has around 100 members, living in or away from Cardiff, including overseas. What binds them is a common interest in the church, either as a community, or as a fine building.
