PARISH PILGRIMAGE 2016
Outing to Brecon Mountain Railway and Llangasty Retreat Centre. Saturday 16th July.
The outing took us first to the Brecon Mountain Railway where there was time for an early lunch before enjoy a ride on the steam railway to the end of the line. It was a delightfully scenic route past the Pontsticill reservoir with a stop at Pontsticill station, where there is a steam museum. The views unfortunately were partly obscured by cloud, as the railway is at over 1200ft.and the clouds were down.
Our journey took us on to Llangasty retreat centre on the shores of Llangorse lake. Here the weather was clear so we could see the wonderful vista across the lake. It is a most beautiful and peaceful spot. Here we had a service of Evensong in the chapel, followed by tea. Our journey home through beautiful countryside brought us back to Cardiff by early evening.
